How to get to Opoutere: (from Auckland City 149 km approximately 1 hour 46 minutes) Refer www.wises.co.nz for direction instructions 

Head south on State Highway 1. (Southern Motorway) 
Merge on to SH 1 and drive 48.5 km 

Take exit 477 for State Highway 2 to Coromandel Peninsula/Tauranga 

Drive 32.5 km .

Turn left on to State Highway 25 with Thames/Coromandel Peninsula signs

Drive 23.9 km across the Hauraki Plains

At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto State Highway 26

Turn left onto State Highway 25A Kopu-Hikuai road to Whangamata (see signs Whangamata).

Drive 28.2 km along the Kopu-Hikuai road.

Turn right onto State Highway 25
 
Drive approx 10.7 km through the forest 

Turn left onto Opoutere Road (Opoutere Public Hall on the corner)  

Drive 2.7 km to the entrance of Wharekawa Place which is a private concrete culdesac  (opposite "boats" parking area where people put their boats into the water)

Opoutere Hideaway is 74 metres up drive and is first 1st house on left with glass ballustrades upstairs and downstairs.

IF DRIVING FROM THE SOUTH: Drive from Waihi to Whangamata and keep going north – the turn to Opoutere is 10km north of Whangamata (see public Opoutere Hall and follow above instructions).
